The Office of Corporate Affairs (OCA) of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda is established to strengthen the university and industry relationship. OCA wishes to work towards garnering active support from industries of the State facilitating their involvement in research, training and placements of students.

To raise universitys goodwill in industries and corporate ventures at the local, state and national level


Objectives

Develop initiatives across campus to build and strengthen linkages with the industries and corporate of the state. Recognize and sustain existing university-industry partnerships and programs and establish new ones. Facilitate cooperation and coordination among all the industries of the university having/needing ties with industrial and corporate houses. Strengthen collaborations and facilitate coordination with industries for curriculum development, research, training and consultancy services as well as students placements. Organize workshops, seminars, symposia, meetings and undertake projects on topics of mutual interest. Mobilize corporate funding and grant.

Activities Undertaken

(January 2015 - October 2016)

Placement Drive

For the first time, placements drive was held at the Faculty of Arts due to efforts of OCA by Texas based IT firm, E-Tech Solutions.
Around 50 students from Bachelors and Masters course had appeared for the placements and 15 were shortlisted by the company.

Increasing employability of students

In order to prepare our students for entering into Corporate, Series of Workshop on Corporate Etiquettes were organized. After an interaction with various industrial personnel, it was felt that there was a need to develop the soft skills of students. Hence, series of workshops were organized.

Workshop was organized on Corporate Etiquettes by renowned corporate trainer Ms. Avi Sabavala for University students. Around 180 final year graduate/post graduate students representing twelve departments of nine faculties participated in the program. (2015)

As part of the series, second workshop was conducted at Deep Auditorium, P.G. Building, Faculty of Commerce, The M.S.University, Vadodara. The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Dharmesh Patel, Sr. Manager L & D Department E-Tech, Baroda. Around 60 students attended the program. (2016)

Third workshop was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Extension and Communication, Faculty of Family and Community Sciences, The M.S. University, Vadodara. The Resource Person for the session was Ms. Hiral Matalia, a professional Corporate Grooming Trainer of MPOWER Training Solution. Around 120 students were benefitted from the program. (2016)

Session on Transitioning from Campus to Workplace was organized in collaboration with the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology.The session was organised for the final year students of the Department with Mr. Anil Belani, Manager, Civil & Structural, L & T Chiyoda Ltd as a resource person. Workshop on Food Safety

Workshop on Food Safety Awareness to food service staff of MSU was jointly organized by OCA and Faculty of Family and Community Sciences and Indian Dietetic Association of India (Vadodara Club). The objective of the workshop was to create awareness regarding food safety amongst food service providers of hostel mess and canteens at MSU as well as private Industrial Canteens. The workshop was attended by 100 Participants.

Industrial Visit

Exposure visit to Gujarat Alkalies And Chemcial Limited (GACL), Dahej for the final year Post Graduation students of Department of Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Technology and Engineering.

The main Objective behind this visit was to make the students understand the practical implementations of the theoretical aspects which they study in their curriculum.

Participation at Gala Industry Academia Meet-2015

OCA had participated in Gala Industry Academia Meet-2015 which was organized by Charotar University of Science and Technology (Charusat).During this Gala Meet, OCA was able to have an interface with around 25 Industries, Nationally.

Rapid Appraisal

With an aim of creating synergies between the academia and the corporate world and to strengthen university-Industry interface, rapid appraisal was conducted to know the expectations of industries from the university as well as universitys expectations from the industries.

Pre-Placement/Orientation Lecture

OCA hosted Piramal Foundation (Gandhi Fellowship Program) and held a Pre-Placement talk at Faculty of Social Work, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Family & Community Sciences & Faculty of Journalism & Communication with the support of Institute of Leadership and Governance. (2015,2016)

Students were oriented about the Full-time residential, two year, leadership program organised by Kaivalya Education Foundation.

Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2015

As part of Vibrant Gujarat Summit, 2015 Gandhinagar, OCA was represented at International Exhibition. As an outcome of the visit, more than 50 Industries (Mainly large scale) were invited for orientation to our University.

Reaching Out to Alumni

Presentation about OCA at Aaditya (bi-annual Alumni meet of MHRM, Faculty of Social Work); Invited alumni working in different corporate sectors to support and strengthen OCA

Activities of OCA was also presented at NEEV 2016, Bi-annual Alumni meet of MSW, Faculty of Social Work.

Globally

Presentation of OCA to the students and teachers of University of South Carolina under the Student Exchange Program for which they had visited our University

OCA was a part of a business meeting in honor of visit of President of the Republic of MOZAMBIQUE and the accompanying Ministers of High Powered Officials Business Delegation

Nationally

OCA team was part of Organizing Committee at CIIS Engineering and Construction Summit 2015 at Surya Palace Hotel, Vadodara. A team of 6 faculty members from Dept. of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Technology and Engineering participated in the program.

Awareness session on Enhancing Competitiveness in Manufacturing Industries and Cluster Approach was organized by CII which was supported by OCA. Around 50 students of Faculty of Engineering and Technology had participated in the event.

Locally

Prepared Quiz for Baroda Management Association for their Annual Convention.

Organized lecture in collaboration with Department of Matallurgical and Material Engineering, Faculty of Technology and Engineering by Mr. Yogeshchandra S Trivedi , Executive Vice President L&T LTD who were selected as the AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professor. Around 80 students and faculty members participated in the program.

Student Internship Program

In the Student Internship Program, The students from various faculties of our university were placed at OCA, total 21 students were placed as interns. They were given Assignment related to the upcoming CEO Conclave, moreover they had also participated in workshop on corporate grooming.

Student Management Games

OCA organized Business Simulation Game competition conducted by All India Management Association on 19th-20th September 2016 with support from the Faculty of Social Work and the Faculty of Management Studies. The event was in partnership with Baroda Management Association (BMA).

Switch Global Expo-2016

OCA was represented at the Switch Global Expo – 2016, one of the largest electrical expos in the country.
