From Dean's Desk:

The Faculty of Journalism and Communication (FJC) was established in The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, in the year 1992. Since its very inception, the persistent attempt has been to provide sound theoretical understanding and thorough practical exposure-training in the ambit of Communication Studies and allied areas; and help students to understand the intricacies of society-media relations, along with exposure to core cultural and other concurrent issues. Having been associated with the Faculty since its founding year, I have witnessed tremendous support and encouragement from all quarters which has helped in grooming students to acquire a wide knowledge base and core skills competencies; and for this I am ever grateful.

Navigating through the last one and a half years during which two diametrically opposite circumstances came up-- the excruciating Covid-19 pandemic challenge, and on the other hand, a proactive National Education Policy 2020 opportunity-- has been a humbling-learning experience unlike ever before; and it also strengthened my belief in the fact that the paths laid out to reach particular destinations, are never without their knocks and trials. However, if one is appropriately well equipped -- physically with the tools, mindfully with a vision, and with a fervent passion fueled by missionary zeal, then maintaining the spirit of integrity and fulfilling responsibility does become an endearing and rewarding task.

Now in its thirtieth year of establishment, FJC offers a range of academic programmes from certificate courses to doctoral studies, as well as better infrastructure to enhance the teaching –learning endeavour as suitable to the evolving educational and media scenario. I am sure that in the coming years, our Faculty will continue to seek and find synergy with all stakeholders thus providing holistic nurturance to eager minds, aspiring communication professionals, whose own career paths will give them tremendous self-satisfaction, and their contributions will ultimately help build a robust, sustainable society, and nation.
