Research and Consultancy Cell:
As a part of the commitment of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda to promote, support and assist research activities by the university staff members the office of Research and Consultancy Cell was established in 2012. The objective of the cell is to assist the staff members to facilitate and focus the efforts in constructive research in academic and applied field. It was envisaged that the level of intellectual productivity and quality of research can be aided by such in-house support. With this purpose and intention, the cell began to provide dedicated administrative and managerial support to the researchers of the university. The university recognizes the potential of synergetic interaction of academia and industry to help to develop productive and meaningful research activity in the interest of the community and society. This type of amalgamation of the in-house and sponsored research, consultancy and other R&D related activities are supported by The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. The activity of the cell include providing research projects to the young and energetic staff members at the entry level, to prepare them to submit larger projects to national funding agencies, help implementation of consultancy work by members of the staff, provide incentive to researchers to carry out better quality of research etc.
Since the inception the cell has supported 10 industrial research projects (worth Rs. 53,79,339/-), 78 industrial consultancy projects (Rs. 4,22,18,712/-), 141 staff members have been engaged in individual consultancy work (Rs. 19,50,893/-) and the university has supported 207 sponsored research projects (worth Rs. 1,71,30,000/-) to the junior level staff members, besides this, about 76 individual scientists have been supported with grant under the initiative of incentivization of research by reimbursing the bills of analysis of research samples from outside government agencies (Rs. 4,11,709/-). The cell also supports the filing of patents and copyrights by staff members (12 patents, Rs. 1,42,000/- 6 copyrights, Rs.25,000/-).
The Research and Consultancy Cell is looked after by a director appointed amongst the professors of the university through a well established selection procedure. The cell was headed by Prof Dinesh Kanchan (till 2018) and Prof Ashutosh Bedekar (2018 onwards).
