The Department of Banking and Insurance is a premier department in the university devoted exclusively to teaching, advanced research, extension, and consultancy in the fields of Banking and Insurance. It offers an array of academic options, including elective subjects and a dedicated 4th-Year B.Com (Hons.) specialization at the undergraduate level—where the National Education Policy (NEP) was adopted in the 2023–24 academic year—as well as a two-year M.Com., and a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Banking (PGDB), with NEP adoption expanding across all Master’s and PGDB programmes for 2026–27.

Integrated hands-on practical training and compulsory internships equip postgraduate students for middle-level professional roles, while its Ph.D. research programme in Banking and Para banking attracts top national and international scholars, having already awarded 22 doctoral degrees. Backed by direct linkages with financial institutions, the Department’s specialized curriculum is recognized by local banks, offering graduates distinct priority in recruitment and career advancement.

To bridge the gap between theory and real-world practice, the Department maintains rich industry-academic linkages through regular guest lectures, industrial visits, and hands-on workshops. These interactive initiatives provide students with vital practical exposure, enabling them to meet, learn from, and engage directly with experienced bankers and insurance professionals.
