About Department

Established in 1949, alongside the inception of the Faculty of Commerce, the Department of Accounting and Financial Management stands as one of the oldest and most distinguished academic departments of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Over more than seven decades, the Department has built a strong reputation for excellence in teaching, research, professional development, and community engagement in the fields of accounting, finance, auditing, taxation, investment management, and corporate governance. Originally known as the Department of Accounting, the Department was renamed the Department of Accounting and Financial Management in March 1990 to reflect its expanded academic scope and commitment to addressing the evolving needs of business, industry, and financial markets.
