“The life of law has not been logic, it has been experience”. -Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. Greetings from the Faculty of Law, The Maharaja University of Baroda!!! The Faculty of Law at The Maharaja University of Baroda is a lively centre of learning where critical and analytical thinking is fostered and supported. It is a space where ideas come together and a passion for academic excellence flourishes. Studying law in the 21st Century has challenges of its own. The curriculum here is |
revised from time to time in order to address the ever-growing needs of society and is always in tune with the Bar Council of India’s requirements. The academic foundation is firmly laid through teaching, research and thought-provoking discussions. Debates, Moot Courts, Internship opportunities with NGOs, Law firms, and leading corporate houses are a regular feature in the life of a law student at the Faculty of Law.
We take pride in our experienced and committed faculty who are well-equipped to prepare students to face the challenges of the future. Beyond classrooms, we invite erudite scholars, judges, eminent legal practitioners, and experts from different walks of life to share their practical experiences, which enrich the learning journey of the students and go a long way in shaping and moulding the young legal minds through the series of lectures entitled Extramural Lecture Series in every semester.
We annually host a National Law Fest—' Lux et Veritas’, a flagship event of the Faculty, where students from reputed Law Institutions across the country look forward to participating. Our Faculty is committed to providing good education to students through Classroom Teaching, Clinical Training, and Extracurricular activities (Moot Court Competition, Atrangi: Cultural Festival, Vox Legis Magazine – Publication by the students).
The Faculty aims to create diverse opportunities for students to sharpen their minds and apply practical skills through dedicated Centres such as the Sayajirao Centre for Alternate Dispute Resolution (SCADR), the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR), and platforms like the Constitution Club, the Eco Club, and others. The Faculty of Law is recognised by the Bar
Council of India (BCI) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). Recently, the Faculty has been ranked topmost in Gujarat by the CSR Rankings 2025.
Our rich legacy is reflected in our Alumni who are leading the Bar and the Bench alike. Apart from this, they have also left their mark in the executive and legislative branches of the government, in academics and the corporate sector as well.
Rabindranath Tagore has famously said,
“Reach high, for stars lie hidden in you. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.”
We heartily welcome you, the bright and talented youngsters, to accomplish your dream to join the all-powerful legal profession, wherein the study of law at the Faculty of Law, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, will be a stepping stone in the building block of your illustrious career and a contributive factor towards nation-building.
