The Faculty of Social Work, formerly known as the Baroda School of Social Work and established in 1950, is one of the premier faculties of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. The faculty started with the flagship programme, Master of Social Work (MSW). In 1997, the Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management started to cater the needs of working professionals in HR. The golden jubilee year was a landmark, as it saw the inception of the Master of Human Resource Management to fulfil welfare and Human Resource Management roles in the industrialized state of Gujarat. The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), started in 2021, and subsequently the five-year integrated Bachelor's and Master's programme in Social Work (BMSW), was to bring in young aspirants to the Social Work arena. |
The teaching-learning process at the faculty is unique, with concurrent fieldwork practicum guided by fieldwork conferences, thus taking into account the individual uniqueness of each student and the needs of the agency where the student is placed.
The faculty is best known for its outcomes among schools of Social Work and has been consistently ranked as one of the top five Social Work institutes in the country.
