The Nutrition Counseling Centre:

The Nutrition Counseling Centre is an initiative for providing free counseling to the citizens of Vadodara by the Department of Foods and Nutrition, Faculty of Family and Community Sciences, The M.S. University of Baroda was officially inaugurated on the 5th September 2013 at 12.00 noon by the Dean Prof. Uma Joshi in the presence of Ex Head Prof. U V Mani & current Head of all the departments staff & students.  
 
This service centre comprises of department alumni, practicing dietitians and doctoral students as its team for counseling the masses targeting numerous disease and health disorders. Various services are being offered in the areas of Nutrition Assessment, Maternal and Child Nutrition, Adolescent Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, Geriatric Nutrition, Nutrition in Health and Disease, Nutrition for Specially Challenged groups for diet modifications and alleviating problems faced by the target groups. Moreover, several booklets and reading materials prepared by the experts in the field are being displayed for the public for gaining benefit in establishing healthy dietary habits for one and all. The centre functions every Saturday from 1.00 to 4.00 pm.  
  
Till date, the counseling centre has received an overwhelming response from the public. A staff member, two doctoral students and two Senior Masters and two Junior Masters student on call are cyclically involved for counseling sessions which include and checking up of BP, Body fat & anthropometric measurements. The faculty then advises the dietary plan in accordance to their profile.  
 
We are greatly pleased to inform all that the support has been encouraging and motivational in helping us achieve the goal of public awareness and lifestyle change in this modern busy life wherein people neglect their health. With this we hope that we shall continue our endeavor educating for health and wellness.
