Dr Anil Kane, the former Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, 1998 to 2001 is significantly known for his contributions to the technology of wind energy. He is the founder Chairman of the Indian Wind Energy Association (WEA). After three consecutive terms as the President of the World Wind Energy Association, he was designated as the President Emeritus of the WWEA. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering and went on to do a Ph.D in the same. Besides impressive degrees in Mechanical Engineering Dr Kane also acquired an LLB in International Law and a Diploma in Industrial Administration and Management. He is a recognized Arbitrator on the panels of the Indian Council of Arbitration, FICCI & ASOCHEM, an International consultant on the panel of the World-renowned Gerson Lehrman Group of New York. He has been on the Board of directors of companies like Essar Steel Ltd., Finolex Industries Ltd., Suzlon Energy Ltd. And the Calico group of Textile Mills Ltd. He has also been associated in different capacities, with industries like the Reliance Industries, the Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation, Ahmedabad, and the CSIR Laboratory. He has to his credit three National level and four Indian Patents for his contributions to scientific research. He has worked on various Government Boards and Committees for the Government of Gujarat. He is a philosopher and speaker on Indian scriptures. He is the proposer of the ambitious Kalpasar project of Government of Gujarat.
