• The Online Refresher Course on Indian Knowledge Systems and Nation Building: Civilizational Contributions was organized from 1st to 14th August 2025 by UGC-MMTTC, Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Sonipat, in collaboration with The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, with 60 participants.
• Under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Shafali Nagpal and coordination of Prof. (Dr.) Anita Shukla, the course featured eminent scholars and interdisciplinary sessions covering philosophy, literature, history, law, political science, economics, management, science, and performing arts.
• Key themes included the civilizational significance of Patanjali’s Yog Sutras, Vedic mathematics, Ayurveda, Astronomy, Jyotisha, Folk literature, Panchakosha framework, Kautilya’s Arthashastra, the Bhagavad Gita, Indigenous aesthetics, critical thinking, Buddhist and Jain traditions, Panchatantra, nutrigenetics, Needonomics, environmental law, and contributions of women in nation building.
• Speakers emphasized the integration of ancient wisdom with contemporary education, governance, science, and policy, aligning IKS with NEP 2020’s vision of holistic, value-based, and future-ready learning. The sessions highlighted India’s enduring civilizational ethos of dharma, inclusivity, resilience, and innovation, and reinforced the relevance of indigenous knowledge for addressing present-day challenges in nation building and global sustainability.
